Sentieri Ebraici Gioia Vino Spumante Brut 2008
Varietal: Trebbiano Blend
Region: Le Marche
Produced in the charmat method, this dry, white sparkler is intensely aromatic, offering an herbaceous quality with a hint of fennel. Among Italian Jews the word "Gioia" is synonymous with simcha, the Hebrew word for joy, which is often associated with celebrations and festive occasions. Sentieri Ebraici's Gioia Vino Spumante Brut can perform as an aperitif or pair with lighter main courses such as pesce in carpione (cubes of fried white fish), a traditional Roman Passover dish. The wine provides a crisp acidity and a long, lingering finish that offers a slightly citrus component. Drink now.
About the Producer
Sentieri Ebraici (meaning “paths of the Jew") is located in the Le Marche region of Italy. All of the wines in the estate’s portfolio are sourced from grapes indigenous to Le Marche. Aside from their sparkling wine production, the rest of the bottlings currently in production are wines Jews have been drinking since antiquity. Consequently, Jews have been living in Le Marche for more than one thousand years, with at least thirty Jewish communities having been documented. Land records show Jews as owners of vineyards and olive trees as early as 967. |
